The red color (in Seattle, they use either yellow or white color) is used so that a vision-impaired person can see where the ramp is instead of having to guess. I don't know that there's a specific name for such items, but in Seattle, I've noticed that they are made by a company called Armor Plate or something close to that. --- Just an aside, I personally am disabled and use a walker. Those 'armor-tiles' are slippery when it rains. The company needs to put some texture on the raised bumps to provide some traction. Q. I was leaving a grocery store entrance on to a five lane street. I was waiting to make a right turn on to the outside lane. Their was no vehicles coming except for one on the outside lane as well but it had its blinker on to turn into the entrance i was coming out of so i turned and i guess she decided to come straight and she hit me on my rear fender of the truck the impact made my truck spin land on the sidewalk and hit two parked vehicles in the parking lot. She said i hit her but my hit was in the rear and hers was in the front. i've never been in an accident before and she yelled at me i was already scarred as it is im 7 1/2 months pregnant so i was shaken up!
