Q. I own an old Suzuki Omnichord (an electronic instrument) and it recently stopped working after accidentally using the wrong power adapter type (everything about it was wrong except that it fit). Very generally speaking, how easy of a repair job will it take to get him running again? I don't know much about electronics, but I am hoping it will be as easy as taking it to a shop, them finding a lone fried component, and switching it out with a new one. What sorts of scenarios can occur when plugging a power adapter of the wrong type into an electronic instrument? Asked by bananax182 - Mon Jul 13 03:30:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I am not familiar with the Suzuki Ommichord so I will answer in general terms. Usually plugging in the wrong adapter burns out the power supply inside the unit because the voltage is too high, the polarity of the voltage is wrong or you try to use an AC output adapter in a DC unit or vice versa. The solution can be as simple as a fuse inside that needs replacing (inexpensive) to frying the whole power supply ( $$$). You may be lucky and only have one or two components that have fried but if the components cannot be identified or if they are obsolete parts that are not available anymore the unit may not be fixable.
