Maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) involves fixing any sort of mechanical or electrical device should it become out of order or broken (known as repair, unscheduled or casualty maintenance). It also includes performing routine actions which keep the device in working order (known as scheduled maintenance) or prevent trouble from arising (preventive maintenance). MRO may be defined as, "All actions which have the objective of retaining or restoring an item in or to a state in which it can perform its required function. The actions include the combination of all technical and corresponding administrative, managerial, and supervision actions." MRO operations can be categorised by whether the product remains the property of the customer, i.e., a service is being offered or whether the product is brought by the reprocessing organisation and sold to any customer wishing to make the purchase. (Guadette, 2002) The former of these represents a closed loop supply chain and usually has the scope of maintenance, repair or overhaul of the product. The latter of the categorisations is an open loop supply chain and is typified by refurbishment and remanufacture. The main characteristic of the closed loop system is that the demand for a product is matched with the supply of a used product. Neglecting asset write-offs and exceptional activities the total population of the product between the customer and the service provider remains constant From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "Repair" What is the best way to repair plaster walls of a room? Q. I just bought my dream home...only she's a 125 year old fixer upper and needs some work. I need to repair all the walls, which are all old plaster and wood lathe. There are lots of cracks and crumbles on the walls and ceilings but over the fireplace, there are big sections of exposed lathe with no plaster at all from where water ran down the chimney and leaked inside. (I have already addressed the all the leaks and put new flashing around the chimney) I plan to repair small cracks with plaster and larger peices will be fitted with drywall. The finish is going to be textured to help hide repairs. I think I've got that much down and I'm pretty sure I can tackle it, but my question still is prep work and where do I start? what should I… [cont.] Asked by Rosebee - Sun Jan 21 15:32:28 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. In a fireplace room, the first thing to do is sponge off the walls with a TSP mixture to get off the soot(smoke) from the fireplace. You can get that at a builders supply or paint store. Just ask for TSP. Then, get the loose plaster off. If you can take it off with your fingernails, it is gonna fall off. Use 1/2" thick drywall board. for the large hole over the fireplace take the plaster off to the 2x4 studs as you have to screw the drywall onto the studs. Also if it is an outside wall, insulate before the drywall goes on. Then once you have the board on, if the plaster is still alot thicker, you can get thinner drywall board and glue it to the 1/2" board to bring the surfaces up to the same level. Use good construction… [cont.] Answered by ButwhatdoIno? - Sun Jan 21 16:25:02 2007 How to repair my guitar from making a loud sound whenever it moves? Q. Whenever I'm playing my guitar (Fender Strat) and the input jack is disturbed it makes a loud buzzing sound. I then have to fiddle with the input jack until the buzzing stops. How to repair this ? Asked by mrp_dkc - Fri Apr 4 11:52:28 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. resolder the leads on the jack, but first try a different cable. on a strat you can just remove the jackplate to get at it. this is a 15 minute repair with the rights skills. break off a wire from the other end, however, and you are talking unstringing the axe and removing the pickguard. be careful; if you dint wanna mess with this, any music store should have a tech who will do this for around twenty bucks. if not, look in the phone book for a local luthier who makes electrics- many of these guys do repairs like this (many music stores send their work to guys like this). my advice (if you dont wanna diy): find a luthier and pay him 40-50 bucks to set up your axe (set action, intonation, pickup adjustment, fingerboard cleaning, fret… [cont.] Answered by dr schmitty - Fri Apr 4 11:56:19 2008 How can I repair just a small part of my wood floor?
Q. My toddler had an undiscovered accident on our livingroom rug. It soaked into our wood floor and left a black spot about 3'x3'. We are moving from this apartment and do not want to loose our deposit. We don't have much $, but can someone tell us how we can repair just this small area on the floor. It is a real wood floor. Maple would be my guess, but maybe oak. I don't know too much about wood flooring. Asked by knowles_lane@verizon.net - Sat Sep 13 18:18:05 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. If it is a real wood floor, you can either sand that area with a fine grade paper, 150- until the stain is sanded out, then retouch the spot with a poly urethane. If it is a manufactured floor, you can find the matching product and possibly get a sample piece, check 'Craigslist' to see if you can find pieces of the wood product. You will need to take a box knife and cut that piece out along the seams until it is free. Once it's out, clean the 'tongue' part of the removed piece out of the 'groove' piece on the floor. You can dig it out with a screwdriver. Cut the 'tongue' part off the new piece of wood. Use a wood glue or PL200 glue the new piece (cut to fit) into the hole. Let it dry for at least 24 hours before walking on it or moving… [cont.] Answered by westwitch9 - Sat Sep 13 18:39:28 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Repair"
