Does an Aerobed expand in size with prolonged use?
Q. I've had my raise aerobed for over 2 years and use it as my everyday bed. It's great and very comfortable. No leaks. But I think it's bigger now than it was originally. Seems to take up more space and old sheets no longer fit. I bought a full size and full size bedding never fit, but now the queen size sheets seem to be somewhat small. I buy very good quality sheets, so it's not like they're shrinking. Has anyone else had this experience?

A. I hve no idea, but I'm thinking the plastic is stretching. I don't think they were made for continuous use. And, you may have over-inflated it at the beginning.

How stable is the Aerobed Raised?
Q. I'm looking at getting an aerobed raised for when guests visit as I have limited space. I am opting for the raised for the height of a normal bed so parents aren't climbing up and down to get on a classic bed. How stable are the rasied beds? Do they move around a lot with the two layers of air?

My aerobed a/c pump cord was chewed by my dog. Can I use a different pump to air it up?
Q. Right by the controller she chewed it right through. Is my aerobed ruined? Can I use a coleman battery pump instead on the valve at the foot of the bed? I don't want to throw it away! Thank you

A. Replace the pump cord with one of the same gage or larger available at any Lowes or any good hardware store. Ask the salesperson if you can substitute armore cable which your dog can not chew through.

how can i find a hole in my aerobed?
Q. i know that there is a hole in it. i just need to find the puncture. any ideas?

A. Take it outside or in your garage and grab a water squirt bottle and after filling it with air spray the bed in spots and look for air bubbles...my grandfather had a hole in his and found it htis way but i cant say it helped much he tried to patch it with the kit it came with but that didnt hold so he ended up using an epoxy to try and patch the hole..(but i haveta sleep on this thing on vacation and it still looses air...) if ya havent had it tooo long i'd take it back and get a new one! (also known some shady people to go buy a new one...put the old one with a hole back into the box and return the bad one..but that could get ya into trouble!)

Is there a way to keep an Aerobed (air mattress) from popping?
Q. Is there some kind of a cover you could put over it to make it sturdier or anything like that? Or better yet, is there anything out, there that CAN'T pop, that would be easier than a bulky conventional mattress to move around? I have a cat and I need something that is easier to move around since I'm still in school. Thanks!

Have you ever bought an aerobed?
Q. Can you tell me about it? how long could you sleep on it? is it worth purchasing for a week or so or should i just buy a reg. bed?
Asked by Juillet - Thu Jul 26 17:13:10 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I have 2. Great for guests. It's comfortable. There are different quality aerobeds. My 1st aerobed was made of a thick vinyl like material with an attached inflater. My 2nd was thinner and more plastic with a detachable inflater. Look very closely at them if you are comparing prices to make sure you are looking at the same product (they differ from store to store) If you have room, get a real bed. If you want something portable and something that does not take much space when not in use then the aerobed is a good investment. And, yes you could use it for a week or so without a problem. It is actually more comfortable (and less morning pain) than many hotel beds I have slept on.

Is there any way to mount an air mattress (like an Aerobed) on a bedframe for temporary use?
Q. Is there a way I could "elevate" my air mattress for guests visiting so they're not sleeping on the ground?

A. Putting a board over the frame should work but if you have a futon frame that would be a better fit for it

It is ok to sleep on an Aerobed all the time?
Q. or is it bad for your back? and how quickly will it get destroyed?
Asked by hannah - Fri Jul 24 11:15:22 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'm not exactly sure, but people have been sleeping in all places for thousands of years. Some sleep on the dirt, some in hammocks, some on feather beds, some on planks of wood. In my option, I would just watch to see how your back feels. If you start getting back pains you might want to change it up or add/remove some air. Everybody has different preferences.

recommend aerobed or folding bed or sleeper sofa?
Q. Which ones are comfortable to sleep on for lengthy visits? My in-laws could stay for 3 months at a time. For the folding beds, I mean those cot-like ones with thin mattresses, not murphy beds.
Asked by jessc - Tue Jan 16 16:31:49 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Totally recommend aerobeds. The others are much less comfortable - the sofa beds have a bar across them, and the folding cots are too thin. Make sure you get the aerobed that has the frame, not the one that goes directly on the floor. The other thing you could look at is a thick mattress futon - very comfortable.

A. I would recommend using your vacuum cleaner. Just hold the vacuum nozzle over the airbed air nozzle and start the vacuum cleaner up. Make sure that you do not do this for too long and if possible, set your vacuum's power as low as possible. Or you could do what I do and simply buy a electric pump that inflates and then fully deflates the bed as well. Quick and painless.

Do you like Aerobed mattresses?
Q. I am interested in buying an Aerobed and would like to know what others who have them think. Give details.
Asked by DecaDozen - Sat Mar 14 21:05:54 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. they are good for a one night or one weekend sort of deal, not as your main bed. i have one for whenever friends come over and pass out here but they are really not that great. They pop and deflate quite easily too if you dont take extreme care of it (dont let any pets around it...my cat popped holes all over it and now we cant use it). but if you still do decide to go ahead and get one then get one with the battery operated filler. You DO NOT want to pump that thing full...its a workout...specially when you have to do it everytime after like 6 hours of it being used.

Q. i found a thumbtack on the floor close to the base of the bed---but, its so tiny---whats the best way to find the leak in order to repair it???

A. You can also mix dish soap and water together and rub it on a suspected area. When you squeeze the bed, it will make a bubble.

A. Comfortable for as long as they last - which isn't all that long with everyday (night) use. I went through two in a year before I bought a real bed. The internal baffles let go after a while, and the beds turned into big beach balls. OK for occasional use, for guests.

A. you should be able to find a patch kit at your local hardware store, or you can use a tire patch kit (found anywhere they sell bikes)

Is there an adapter where I can take something that plugs into the wall and plug it into my car instead?
Q. I don't usually take electronics with me camping, but this time we'll need to bring an Aerobed. Is there such a thing as an adapter where I can take its plug and plug it into the lighter in my car to power it up?
Asked by Astarte - Tue Feb 12 11:37:56 2008 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's called an AC/DC inverter and plugs into your cigarette lighter or clamps directly to your battery and converts the 12 volt DC current from the battery to 120 volts AC current to power common household appliances and power tools. Here's a listing of several models, with a wide price range depending on the wattage you will need, from one of the top 4WD stores online: Be sure you have the ability to jump start your vehicle in case you accidentally drain your battery, or carry a spare.

How do I clean an AeroBed?
Q. I have an AeroBed Queen Raised Bed with Headboard. I placed a small foam matress on top of it because the "bumps" in the bed were uncomfortable. However, after several months, I removed the matress to find a very large stain on the bed that looks a lot like mold or mildew (see pictures). I have no idea how this stain got there since the climate in the room is usually fairly dry. So my question is, what can I use to clean that? Photos: ---
Asked by reformer81 - Mon Jun 29 16:19:33 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The warm moist air from your body probably condensed enough on the impervious vinyl enough to promote the mildew. Unfortunately you will not be able to use chlorine bleach on that because it would damage the surface. You might try some oxygen bleach like oxyclean or clorox ll.

What is a good spare bed?
Q. My husband and I have a regular bed for our room but are not sure what kind of bed to get for our spare room. My 18 year old brother is moving in and our parents come to visit once in a while so we need a mattress that we can put out for company (our spare room is also our office and we can't afford a normal bed) but can still stand the abuse of 18 year olds. I've looked at some like Simmons and Aerobed but I'm not sure which is a better buy since they all seem to have equal good and bad reviews.
Asked by jasperkas_06 - Fri Aug 7 14:43:57 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your best bet is to go with a Memory foam mattress comparable to Tempur-Pedic. Check out we bought our daughter one of these and now we have one in our guest room. The only problem is our guest want to stay longer or want to know if they can take the bed with them. They gave us free shipping and a 90 day sleep trial.

Inflatable mattress vs. folding camping cot?
Q. I'm relocating to another town half way across the country. I'll be starting new in town with just what I can carry on the plane. What I would like it know is: which is more comfortable or lasts longer, an air mattress or a folding camping cot? There is no problem with me finding either in the town, when I get there. Are folding camping cots comfortable? Do they fall apart in the middle of the night? How long do you think one would last? (I might need it to last for 3 months) I slept on an Aerobed at one time for 2 months. I was not pleased with how it lost air during the night most of the time. Are there any air beds that you recommend?
Asked by James S - Wed Aug 1 16:30:41 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I can tell you from experience folding out camp cots are not comfortable at all. They are like sleeping on the floor with less room. I suggest an aerobed for sure i have experienced the air loss in the middle of the night also but this can be from the plastic stretching and until it is completely broken in it will continue to do this. Make sure your air intake is sealed off as best you can. I have slept on a aerobed for 3 nights without pumping it back up. They are the best choice for your money and a lot more comfortable.
