Do you think going braless or wearing an unsupportive bra makes you saggy?
Q. I've known 3 girls that wore loose bras, went braless, or bounced alot when running and they were all saggy by their early 20's. Did the bras or lack there of cause this or were they predestined to be saggy? Any other people with similar experiences?

A. I agree completely with Chrissie and Ihvinny. If you think logically about the question you'll realize that wearing a bra would actually increase sagging if it had any affect on sagginess at all. Women were not born with bras and thus have no biological need of them to prevent sagging. Our chest muscles do that for us naturally. Wearing a bra is indeed like a sling. It results in muscle deterioration and consequently sagging breasts. Moreover if you are wearing a bra to prevent sagging would it even matter if you did sag? I mean you'd always have a bra on anyways (whether you sagged or not). Sagginess is affected by breast size and genetic predisposition. No matter who you are as you age, your breasts will start to lose the battle… [cont.]

How should I encourage her to stay braless?
Q. My wife likes to go out braless, especially after those long office hours. I personally think it looks quite decent that way (she's 32 c/d). She's little shy about it though and also gets very easily discouraged especially when some woman gives her bad look. Can someone suggests 'things to do' and 'things not to do'? How should I encourage her and make her more confident?

How can I convince my mom to let me go braless?
Q. I'm 13, have worn a bra for 4 months but can't get used to them. I'm a B cup and still growing. Mom decided I had to wear one and though I complained he didn't back off . Said I need one, bras are very important for females. She's nice, loving, but really makes me wear a bra. Just says it's out of love and on this point she won't back off. She said with love but firmly I'll wear one everyday while I live under her roof, I gota get used to my bras and that's it, I have no choice, bras a re a law. She got me the best bras she could, helps me with them, says I'll get used if I have good will towards my bras and stop complaining. But I don't like them specially now thats summer. A. You need a bra. I'm not yelling but you do need a bra. a "B" cup is still big when your not wearing a bra. you playing around with your friends or family and your bouncing all over the place you may get some unwanted attention from boys and maybe older men ugh you don't want to deal with the stairs of perverts. My mother-in-law lets her 11 year old go around the house and in her small pool in the back yard with no bra it's not a good idea your shirt can accidentally fly up or a boy that can tell your not wearing a bra lift your shirt so everyone can see. do you really want to deal with that? and believe me people will be able to tell your not wearing one. B may not be a big size but it is still a noticeable size unless you have nothing… [cont.]

A. It all depends what they are wearing for a shirt. If it's a summer halter top I would think natural. If it's a white t-shirt I would think trashy.

A. Oh dear, I see the bra police are out in force again...! ;) A few comments - clearly not from personal experience(!), but rather experience with my 34F ex and common sense... As someone's already said, layers are good. Two or three layers and any risk of show-through embarrassment is gone - if you can make the first layer stretchy or clingly, like a small vest top or a lycra/stretchy tube top, nothing excessively jiggly is going to happen either. If you live somewhere hot and layers don't appeal, one or two layers but loose/baggy works too. If you're concerned about nipples showing through you can either just stick band-aids over them, or if you're feeling posh google 'pasties' and order some - then you can have pretty flower shapes… [cont.]

A. such a boy q!! of course it is not illegal. but wearing a bra is totally entrenched in to western culture so much that going without is thought of by many as gross I personally am much happier going without. I avoid wearing a bra as often as poossible. my breasts are not huge, so it is not uncomfy to go braless as it would be if my breasts were larger B

Q. It's almost summer and it's really hot here. I'm so happy to be able to wear short skirts and loose tops, but I get so sweaty and itchy around my bra. I went without yesterday and my friends gave me a hard time. Nothing shows and it's not like I sag or anything, so can someone tell me why it matters?

A. You know, there was a time when showing your ankles was considered indecent. If people are upset because they can tell you have nipples, tell them to get over it. We all have them.

Does my husband dislike my going braless at home?
Q. I have a 7 month old baby, so I'm not as "perky" as I used to be. I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I don't usually wear a bra if I'm not leaving the house. Does my husband find this unattractive? (I put this in men's health because it's the only category where I knew I'd get a male's opinion.)

A. I get the impression that being a stay at home mum , you don't go out very often ; so since having your baby you have become lazy and a sloppy dresser . of course it could be that your breasts are very small , but I don't think that is the case . A bra is to give support to your breasts , so that they keep their rounded shape . If you just let them hang down they will lose their elasticity and fullness . In time your husband will not find that attractive . It is one thing to be a little casual in dress soon after giving birth ; but by 7 months you should be back to normal . Your husband may not make any comment ; but my … [cont.]

A. It was Marlo Thomas who starred in the show "That Girl." I remember the cover stories in Redbook and other magazines of that era. (I'm going to guess it was 1971) Edit: It was 1968. Here is a New York Times article that mentions her refusal to wear a bra: She certainly did not look indecent, though. Very pretty, classy woman.

A. Maybe try buying shirts that come with built in bras already. Some shirts do but not all course. Tank tops come with built in bras. If you felt like you were suffocating with that bra you were wearing, might wanna go to JCPenny or Victoria secret to get you resized and find a bra that might fit you better. If a 32B is too tight on you try going up to a 34B..if that doesn't suit you then go up to 36B.

What nipple covers have you found work best (for going braless)? Do they really stay on? Are they comfortable?
Q. I got this cute summer dress that's low-cut, and I can't wear a bra with it. It's loose, and it's not see-through, so I think I'm just going to go bra-less, but I'd like to get some of those nipple cover-ups to use, just to be safe. What type/brand do you recommend? For instance, are those "reusable" ones really reusable? Thanks so much!!
