A business (also called a company, enterprise or firm) is a legally recognized organization designed to provide goods and/or services to consumers. Businesses are predominant in capitalist economies, most being privately owned and formed to earn profit that will increase the wealth of its owners and grow the business itself. The owners and operators of a business have as one of their main objectives the receipt or generation of a financial return in exchange for work and acceptance of risk. Notable exceptions include cooperative enterprises and state-owned enterprises. Businesses can also be formed not-for-profit or be state-owned.

The etymology of "business" relates to the state of being busy either as an individual or society as a whole, doing commercially viable and profitable work. The term "business" has at least three usages, depending on the scope — the singular usage (above) to mean a particular company or corporation, the generalized usage to refer to a particular market sector, such as "the music business" and compound forms such as agribusiness, or the broadest meaning to include all activity by the community of suppliers of goods and services. However, the exact definition of business, like much else in the philosophy of business, is a matter of debate.

What business minor should I get in addition to human resource management?
Q. As a psych major I am well aware that my major is useless on its own so I am going to get some background in business by majoring in human resource management. My college also offers seven other business minors, accounting, business administration, economics, international business, management, management information systems, marketing, and personal financial planning. Which of these would be beneficial along with my HRM minor?

A. Hiii.. I think you have to choose the Marketing section in Human Resource Management(HRM) because in marketing you get the nice job in the good reputed company on a high post..

What business courses should i take in college to be successful after college?
Q. I will be going to college soon and after college I would like to have a career in business. I thought about marketing but I have always struggled with math. Is there any business courses, like marketing, that does not have to have so many math courses?
Asked by jknstina45 - Wed Apr 29 15:50:50 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You may be in trouble... Marketing is the least math-oriented of the major business disciplines. Most of the others, finance, etc, involve much more math and much higher degree math. Come on, how much math is involved in marketing? I think you can do it. Don't be afraid of math, you have to go for it.

What kind of business should I put up in an area wherein the students were mostly seen? And they are in budget
Q. The location was sorrounded by the schools ,two barbeque stations were already there and its a quiete good business for them because its cheap for the student. I'm planning to have my own business too but not a bbq, any suggestions what kind of business should I put up that will attract the students? I tried the carenderia/cafeteria but it didnt do good. By the way the location had a limited parking area. And its near in the boarding house, subdivisions.

A. school supplies, stationaries, e-load, snacks (chips). you can display & sell posters & souvenirs featuring popular tv characters to attract the students. if it's in a residential area you can also carry toiletries & you can rent out a small part of your store for a xerox operator
