Could anyone tell me why my Kenmore washer does not drain though it spins?
Q. My Kenmore washer does not drain. I suspect clogging in or near the water pump or broken belt. Would that be a reasonable guess? If so, how can check them or fix them?
Asked by james - Tue Mar 11 05:49:12 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you can get to the outlet pump at the bottom you will find the outlet pipe attached to the pump with a spring clamp. You will need a pair of pliers to release the spring then pull the pipe off and check for blockage by pushing a bent coat hanger up it until it exits at the sink end. If it's clear of debris then check confines of the pump for debris or malfunction.

Kenmore washer model 1586 whinning noise during spin cycle but does not spin?
Q. I have a Kenmore washer machine model 15862400 that is whinning during the spin cycle but does not spin how can I fix this? What could it be? Has anyone else had this problem? The rubber coupling looks fine, found whining coming from water pump. How old was your washer, Joevette?
Asked by netboyfishing - Thu Jan 15 03:04:13 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I have a Kenmore that did the same thing and the cause was a rubber coupling that fits between the motor and the drum. If you are good with tools you can fix it yourself but if not the cost is not too bad. If you fix it be very careful not to damage the control panel when taking it off (if you need to take it off on your model). It only took about 30 or 40 minutes to fix mine. I think mine is roughly 10 years old.

Is there a regulator for a Kenmore washer?
Q. I have a Kenmore 110.26812690. My washer dumps too much water too quickly and it backs up my houses old plumbing. Is there a restrictor/regulator part which can be installed onto my discharge hose which will lessen the amount of water entering my system?
Asked by George - Fri Apr 9 12:15:57 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'm not aware of anything designed specifically for this but what I can tell you is that it won't harm the pump if you constrict the flow. Try the plumbing aisle at your local big box store. You should be able to find a suitable reducer in copper or PVC for example it looks like a 3/4"->1/2" copper reducer would fit in the end of my discharge hose.

Which is better Whirlpool or Kenmore washer and dryers?
Q. I just purchased a home and it comes with a Kenmore washer and dryer set, however, I already have a Whirlpool washer and dryer set. I am wondering which one is better since I am going to be selling the other set. I have only had the Whirlpool set for a year and a half but I bought it used so it's about 2-3 years old. I have no clue how old the Kenmore set it. I really like the Whirlpool but they seem to have the same features to me. Please help me out!
Asked by Kristian G - Tue Sep 29 16:33:35 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A lot of the Kenmore sets are made by Whirlpool or GE, The Whirlpool set is about as good for the price as it gets. So to be on the safe side I would probably stick with the Whirlpool, you know the use of it for a year and a half anyway.

A. I'm sure your washer is direct drive, and made by Whirlpool. A common problem with them, is the coupling between the motor and transmission break. It is a fairly easy thing to fix if you or someone you know has some mechanical ability. Here is a site that shows what to look for, and how to fix it, along with a video, if that is the problem. ...Good Luck...

my kenmore washer has a new belt and it made a strange noise and now when it starts, all it does is make a hum?
Q. my kenmore washer has a new belt and the other day it made this strange noise like fireworks going off and started to smoke. I shut it off. From that point on it just sits there and makes a humming sound and does nothing. Am I right in guessing the capacitor is bad?
Asked by deliguy35 - Wed Oct 22 05:16:11 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It sounds like the belt was installed too tightly, and this either cooked the bearing, or the motor. It sounds like the motor wants to start (so probably not the capacitor). You can test this by removing the belt and see if the motor runs unloaded. If it does start, you need bearings.

My Kenmore washer 80 series is pulsating water into the tub.?
Q. Please help! My washer is filling up little by little by pulsating water into the tub. After pulsating for a couple of minutes the hot will start coming in correctly. The cold refuses to work correctly at all. What does that sound like the problem is?
Asked by Stacy806 - Thu Nov 1 18:36:37 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Turn off both the hot water and the cold water. Unplug your washing machine. Pull it away from the wall. Have a bucket handy, and undo the water connections, one at a time, from the wall spigots. Drain each hose into the bucket. Undo each hose from the back of the washing machine, and take the hoses outside and flush them both ways with a garden hose. While the hoses are off, turn on the wall water spigots, one at a time. (Put your bucket under tap). This should drain the accumulated minerals and sand that may be in your lines. Then, hook the hoses back up securely to the machine first, then to the wall spigots. Turn the water on s-l-o-w-l-y. Look for leaks (meaning you didn't hook up securely enough.) When lines are secure, on, [cont.]

Where do I find the model number on a Kenmore washer?
Q. The washer is about 6 or 7 years old and is called an Eco Care System washer. I took the panel off the bottom front of the washer and there is nothing. They have a repair chart inside the washer that shows the electrical circuit and such, and even on that chart is nothing that identifies my washer. Where oh where is that model number to be found? Reason why I need it is because I want to order myself another manual... Thank you!

Why does my Kenmore stackable washer spin out of control?
Q. I have a Kenmore stackable washer about 3 years old and every spin cycle it spins out of control. The bucket hits the side and bangs and makes the whole washer move. I have tried smaller loads, im about to try it empty and see what happens. I do know that the washer is not level from front to back. Can that cause this? Does anyone have any idea what it can be? All help would be great as we have just purchased this a couple months back. Chris

A. more than likely your springs are broken or bad. go to www.searspartsdirect.com put your model # in and go the section marked base. it will show the springs. yours probably have ones that look like shock absorbers on a car they are that large. they costs about 80.00 each. you can buy them online and fix yourself if you have a handyman that can help you or you can call around to your local appliance parts store and purchase them.

Kenmore washer broken coupler help?
Q. I have a kenmore washer about 7 years old. It fills with water and will drain--doesn't agitate or spin. After searching yahoo answers, I am sure it is a broken motor coupler. There are pieces of black rubberlike material under the washer. I (60 year old female who dapples in own repair work) have gotten the washer apart and have taken the two clips off for the pump. I can wiggle the pump---but how hard should I pull---I am afraid to break it. After that I think there are 2 screws and clips for the motor and the coupler should be there--and off to appliance part store I go. My son says to wait until he is here in two weeks--but I would rather fix it myself. Hopefully, I won't need to call a repair man as they would charge a fortune just… [cont.]

A. your doing the job exactly right...just go ahead and pull it off...sometimes it will be hard because the motor shaft could have rusted into the pump shaft some but this isnt a major problem.spray some penetrating oil on it ..when you go to the parts store the coupling is the same one that whirlpool uses as they make that washer for kenmore...

Thanks I've Kenmore washer 80 model # 110.92283800 and once I start the water cycle it will just drain that water. Water will not stay inside the washer... any sugggestions. My drain hose is as high as the washer...
Asked by viresh9 - Sat Feb 17 12:06:22 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. The drain hose must be up as high as the top of the machine. Ideally the drain hose should be hooked into a 2 1/2" stand pipe that is at least as high as the top of the washer. If you have the hose laying down or it has an extention added onto it and it does not loop up as high as the machine it will just allow the water to run right out of the machine as fast as it comes in. If you do have a loop up as high as the machine and the hose with an extention fastened to it and the extention goes down a floor drain the water will siphon out of the machine a siphon break must be added to the hose.

Help with Kenmore Washer please?
Q. We have a Kenmore 800 series top load washer (3 years old), Model # 24872300. A few weeks ago it stopped agitating. It would pump the water out and pretty much do everything else, but stopped spinning. My husband took it apart and when he put it back together nothing worked. The repairman I called said we need a new motor. I personally think that my husband did not put it back together correctly. Not sure what to do since the motor would cost around $150. Has anyone had a similar experience with this model washer?
Asked by question33 - Fri Mar 23 12:48:09 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Evidently your husband failed to connect something when he put the machine back together. I think your model # should have been "110.24872300" which I believe is a direct drive machine. The motor runs in one direction th agitate and reverses direction to pump the water out and spin. A common failure on them is the coupling between the motor and transmission. Here are a couple of sites that might help you determine what may be wrong with your machine and ways to check different functions. I hope they help...Good Luck...
