The rt spark plug is not like most regular plugs to change so how do you change them? What tools do I need?
Q. I pulled out the old plug and it has Like a casing type that I never seen. Is the plug incased in it or is that a special plug? If Its just a regular plug in it how can I change it or what tools do I need to change it. Im trying to replace it with the E3 diamond fire spark plugs but no luck without trying to damage the casing.

A. Uhh... what kind of vehicle and engine is this EXACTLY? Be specific. We need all details. All spark plugs in engines are the same. Something is a little odd here. Maybe you are talking about some metal sleeve around the plug, I don't know. help us out here.

A. Yes - it's called a power inverter. You need one that's rated with enough wattage for whatever you want to plug in, but they are easy to find both at places online like Amazon.com or the local Wal-mart. Here's an example:

Can you connect a solar panel to a regular plug, using copper wire?
Q. Can you connect a solar panel to speakers that use a wall outlet plug, by cutting the plug off and connect copper wire between the solar panel and cord? Confusing i know. I'm trying to connect a solar panel to speakers for a science project.

A. The 1st half of the question is a bit confusing and more info is needed to answer the question. I will address the "confusing I know" statement. If your goal is to hear the sound of D/C electricity being generated in a solar panel, the speaker should emit a steady hum or buzz. Be certain before you connect the 2 together that the output of the solar panel does not exceed the input of the speaker. If on the other hand, your goal is to actually power a sound system such as a car radio (which runs on D/C the same as the solar panel out put), You would need to know the radio voltage input ( from the label on the back of the radio) and make sure the output from the solar panel matches the radio input. The odds of the 2 values matching are… [cont.]

Every time i plug my guitar pedals in a regular 9V adapter, my amp makes a humming noise and theres no sound?
Q. I have a 80 Watt Peavy Back Stage amp, and every time i plug a regular 9V adapter into my dunlop cry baby wah wah pedal or any of my other pedals, it makes a humming noise and no sound at all. I have tried different adapters and no luck. any help?

A. Look carefully at the adapter, does it say the out put is DC or AC? Look at where the adapter plugs into the unit. Does it show which side is plus and which is minus? The humming can be caused by a bad filter on the adapter. Not having the unit before me I don't know if it needs DC or AC. But amps work off of DC so there would be a rectifier bridge in there if the power source was AC, so a DC adapter would work. But if the unit was designed for DC then there is no way the AC adapter would work.

is there an adapter to plug in regular stereo speakers that just have a wire to attach, into my laptop? matt?
Q. I have Bose speakers that just have a regular wire coming out of them. Is there an adapter that can crimp down on the wires and then plug into the speaker hole in my laptop?

A. Head down to your local Radio Shack. A banana plug should work for what you're doing provided that your speakers have a low power requirement. There are several types so just tell them what connection you need.

I want to wire a security light to a regular light plug. How do I do this?
Q. I have a Designers Edge L-1820 150W HPS "Dusk till Dawn" security light. Out of the box, I thought I could plug it into the wall, but it just has a bare white and bare black wire. Can I wire it to a standard wall plug so I can just plug it in? If so, how?

A. Your new light fixture is intended to replace an existing wall mounted light fixture. The correct way to mount it would be to install a junction box where you want the light and run power to it. This would be pretty cheezy, but you could attach a junction box to the wall surface, and then mount the light to that. Use a watertight fixture box, and run conduit from it down to near the receptacle you'll connect to. At the bottom of the conduit, attach another junction box. Run a black, white and ground 12ga THHN conductor from the light down to the lower junction box. At the lower junction box, wire in an "extension cord" (SJ cable, like Mark said, or canabalize a good, heavy duty exterior extension cord. Run the extension cord out the… [cont.]

Changing from Regular plug in internet to Wireless?
Q. I have plug in cable internet and want to change to wireless now we have a laptop sa well as a desktop. How would i go about doing this, do I just call my ISP and ask them to switch it to wireless and get a router of them?
Asked by waltonblue - Wed Dec 26 15:36:14 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you already have a broadband connection in your desktop that uses a cat 5 connection, looks like a phone jack but bigger, then you don't need to purchase a wireless card for your desktop unless you plan to move your router somewhere away from the desktop. Just purchase a wireless router and connect the cable modem to that and run a cable from the wireless router to the desktop, they usually have at least 4 wired connections as well as wireless. I'd recommend a router that uses the 802.11g standard as it the most widely used at the moment and its the fastest. There is a new standard arriving on the scene, the 802.11n but it's still new and all the rules haven't been finalized yet so is subject to change.

how do go about turning a 215 a.c.window unit to a regular plug?
Q. i was told if i tried it that it would blow the motor
Asked by kingkong9274 - Wed Jul 23 22:12:12 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Very few electric motors are designed to run on 220 or 110. If yours is one of these you will find a schematic inside the power box on the unit that will show you how to wire it for 110. If it is not designed for either voltage you will have to install a 220 receptacle near the unit with adequate wire and breaker to use the unit. Good Luck!

A. An inverter that's rated for the wattage you want to power will do fine. It converts 12VDC to 120VAC (house current). I have a 300 watt inverter ($50) I use for a 100 watt trouble light.

A. If you have a cell phone that has a small tip, it should work with any home phone. If no, shop for the converter wire. You can find it at wal-mart and target. Electronic area. It should cost you 20 buck or more. you'd be lucky to find one on sale. If it cost you that much just buy a whole new head set. My xbox 360 head set works with my voyager and my home phone cuaz the tip is small, plus it has a mic. Most of all if your head phone doesnt have a mic, "Dont bother". Just buy a new one.

How can I use an air pump with a 12v cigarette lighter plug in a regular wall outlet? ?
Q. I have an air pump I plug into a cars cigarette lighter to inflate my bicycle tires. The instruction page said it will work with a battery charger, too. What kind of battery charger would I use? I don't see how it would plug into a battery charger. I do not have a car, so it would be very helpful to be able to use a wall outlet.
Asked by gg101 - Mon Sep 29 04:38:23 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They mean a car battery charger, but these normally have crocodile clips to connect to a car battery, you would also need a car type cigarette lighter socket to connect to the charger or remove the plug and connect straight to the charger. There are cigarette socket to mains plug adaptors available on ebay but they probably won't supply enough current to run the pump. It may be easier to get a cycle floor pump Edit The unsmothed DC from a battery chager will be adequate to run a small DC electric motor

A. I have never known of reg ear buds working. It will either use the mini usb or a moto specific plug of about 2.5mm. It can be difficult to find them as well. You may want to call moto and tell them the ones you have are defective. Sometimes they mail out new ones for free. Moto- 1-800-331-6456

A. Right now you have no options as no plug in hybrids are on the market. Your only choice is a regular hybrid. The first plug in hybrid may well be the Volt from GM its slated to go on the market in 2010, but dont hold your breath.

Is it okay to plug in a regular extension cord to a wall outlet?
Q. I'm talking about a wall outlet where the outlet already has a ground on it. Not sure what they are called as I'm not an electrician or inclined. It's the outlet near water that has a reset switch. I'm assuming its a surge protector of sorts. Anyways seeing as it has auto shut off if it has water on it, is it safe to keep another extension cord plugged into this outlet on the counter that is not a surge protector, assuming there is a chance of said cord getting wet?
Asked by PeeJ - Tue Dec 12 07:58:45 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You're talking about a ground-fault outlet, which is normally found in kitchens or bathrooms. You can plug just about any appliance (or extension cord) into such an outlet without worrying -- they are the safest electrical outlets that you can use. The only thing you should be careful about is overloading that circuit. Usually, outlets in kitchens or bathrooms have a current rating of 15 amps, which would be fine for most appliances as long as you're not using a bunch of them at the same time. So go ahead and plug that extension cord in -- just be sure not to hook too many things up to that extension cord.
